Atypical Motions Publishing Inc is an independent research and multimedia publishing company focused on the relationship between people, technology, and the systems that shape our lives. We work across industries and disciplines to explore complex questions involving human and digital rights, trust, and stewardship. We believe the systems we build should ultimately serve human dignity, the planet, agency, and wellbeing.

Tesla's Medicine
Multilingual Film
Atypical Motions contributed French and Spanish subtitling and translation to Tesla's Medicine, a feature documentary exploring Nikola Tesla's historical work and its relationship to emerging approaches in healthcare.
The project reflects our commitment to making knowledge and creative work accessible across languages and cultural contexts.
The Case of the Girl Who Had to Be Perfectly Perfect
Book Marketing & Cultural Promotion
Atypical Motions supported the marketing and promotion of The Case of the Girl Who Had to Be Perfectly Perfect, a publication connected to the life and legacy of the Honourable Jean Augustine, the first Black woman elected to Canada's House of Commons and the first Black woman to serve in Canada's federal Cabinet.
The project formed part of broader cultural work surrounding Steadfast, a film documenting Augustine's journey from Happy Hill, Grenada, to her historic contributions to Canadian public life. Our work supported the visibility and reach of this story across cultural and community audiences at the CarribeanTales International Film Festival.
Multicultural Ambassador & Influencer

Atypical Motions participated as a multicultural ambassador through a collaboration involving SheaMoisture and Carnival Nationz, supporting cultural representation and community engagement in Toronto.
The initiative brought together beauty, culture, and community through the Toronto Caribbean Carnival, highlighting Caribbean heritage and the contributions of diverse communities to Canadian society.

Trust and Stakeholder Engagement in Biobanking

We are developing a research article in partnership with a Switzerland-based organization examining approaches to improve stakeholder engagement in biobanking.
The research explores how communication, trust, and participation can strengthen relationships among stakeholders involved in biobanking and contribute to more responsible and effective research practices.
The Beaver and the Bald Eagle: Reflections Across the World's Longest Undefended Border

We are preparing a book review and interview examining the evolving relationship between Canada and the United States through the lens of governance, institutions, immigration, healthcare, education, business, and the environment.
Drawing on the book's comparative analysis, personal narrative, and original survey research, the project explores how values, policies, and institutions shape national identity and the relationship between neighbouring societies.
International Film Jury: Stories Across Borders and Cultures

We are serving as an international film jury, evaluating over 150 films in English, French, Spanish and Mandarin while engaging with diverse cinematic traditions and cultural perspectives. The project considers how filmmakers use storytelling, language, character, and visual culture to explore identity, communities, institutions, and contemporary social realities.
Through comparative evaluation, the project considers how cinema reflects the experiences and perspectives of different societies and how international, multilingual storytelling can create dialogue across cultures and borders.
